Lazy Rappers Disgust Me!

How are you grinding and putting in work when all you do is smoke weed all day?
First off I can't get you a deal with #YMCMB so ya'll better stop asking me that!
But if I could, why would I when all your pics look like this online?
These lazy internet rappers need to take notes on Birdman and Slim!
Before the internet they had to hit the streets and promote DAILY!
I bet they were not sitting around expecting other people to put them on!
You wanna record deal?
Get off your butt and make it happen!

Oh and Happy Thanksgiving niggas lol

Talking In The 3rd Person

This annoys me when artists that are NOT signed or famous speak on social networks in the 3rd person as if we don't know they are the ones writing their own posts since they are not famous enough to not have time to do it themselves. Unless you are writing a BIO talking in the 3rd person can be detrimental for your career...why? Because there is no sense of connection there for potential fans. People want to connect with you, not your "manager" or your "promo team" if you really have one. Stop letting people run your pages and learn to connect with you fans!

Indie Artist Spotlight: Zumbi Mambo

I had the pleasure of speaking to Zumbi Mambo and that is a blessing seeing that he is dead!
Yes, I said dead!

Zumbi is a Haitian VooDoo Zombie, he freed himself from the bookur who enslaved him in 2010 and has been trying to make his way into the entertainment world ever since. I can see it being hard seeing that he is dead not many places will hire him so a job in the entertainment business is all he's really left to pursue... if people aren't going to just accept that he's just not alive anymore.

Don't judge him!

Listen to his music instead!

Follow him on Twitter HERE!

Zumbi is a unique artist with a unique style of expression!
I have to ask all the other indie artists out there...what is your niche?
What makes your music stand out?

Producers Don't work For Free!

Some rappers want free beats cause they say their flow is nice. That's like a company saying you should work for them for free cause they're a nice company...producers spend hours making beats, don't disrespect them by trying to get freebies. ðŸŽ¹ ‪#‎Pay4Beats‬

I posted this on my Facebook yesterday and for the most part, people saw my P.O.V

Stop expecting people to give you stuff just because you think you are talented.

Producers still have to eat!

Making The Best Out Of Your Situation

Let me get right to it...

STOP COMPLAINING!

I hate to hear when people always have something negative to say about their situation...
I am not going to tell you to fix your life if you don't like it like everyone else because
obviously that is not always possible. That is why I am telling you to STOP COMPLAINING
and learn to be content with what you have and who you have in your life for the time being.
I have noticed that most of the time we do have a way of fixing our problems but we simply
choose not to because we think that it will take to long to fix...for example...our finances.
Say for instance we want to move to a nicer home. We figure it will take us a few months or
maybe even a few years to save up so we decide that will take to long and we stay where we are.

This is stupid. Why? Let me let you in on a little secret:
Regardless to if you stay in your current circumstance or if you decide to do something to change your situation...you will still be alive during the process...meaning:

Take our example about saving up to move. Hopefully you will still be alive in a few months to a year...so if you decide to save your money...you will be able to move out in a few months to a year. If you don't save your money you will still be there in a few months to a year and nothing will have changes...so why not start working towards a better life no matter how long it will take? By working towards a better tomorrow you will eventually have a better life. If you don't want to take the time to do it then you will never have a better life and you will always be in a position to complain. Please take my advice...PLAN and PURSUE!

It may take a while but your music career is worth it...
Save up and invest in the proper equipment or studio to record in.
Your fans will thank you later...

Stop Jumping Ahead Of Your Career!

You're an artist...you are supposed to make music right?
You are supposed to make music for people OTHER than yourself.

I bugs me when I see indie artists with 15 mixtapes and no fans.
What is the point of having a bunch of mixtapes when no one has heard the first one?

I think that indie artists should out one or two QUALITY mixtapes or a few songs, and focus on building a following so that there will be a demand for their music. Indie artists don't seem to want to take the time to build a buzz and I do not understand why that is. In order to get a record deal or gain some notoriety people of importance have to know who you are and they will only know who you are through a genuine buzz.
I say GENUINE buzz because it is so easy to fake the funk these days, especially online.

Stop Jumping Ahead Of Your Career!

Put out new music when the time is right...after you have a descent amount of  hits and feedback.
Putting out music without hearing from fans with not enable you to grow as an artist.
Fans will give you the constructive criticism you need to propel you in the right direction musically.

        1. How many hits did you get on your last mixtape?
        2. Has it reached it's full potential online?
        3. Did you get a lot of feedback?
        4. Have you promoted it online and offline?

       REMEMBER...

Don't buy views
Don't buy followers
and
Don't buy likes

Stay true to your craft and watch your career take off!

Facebook Wisdom!

This was my Facebook status yesterday and I thought it would be a good post for the Indie Artists that follow my website!

I bet if people had known Souljaboy was gonna blow they would have stuck around...I bet if people had known Oprah was gonna win a beauty contest and become a billionaire people would have stuck around...people only stick around if they think you are going somewhere so if you have no one that believes in your dream enough to stick around now, then you have already eliminated the bandwagon fans! Make em' wish they stuck around! ‪#‎TeamWinning‬

The only way to tell who is really on your side is to have absolutely nothing but a dollar and a dream!

Never.

Give.

Up.

You can't be great if you give up...

Indie Artists:Stop Making It So Hard To Find Your Music!

I hate when artists hit me up and tell me to go to a website and search for their music! Um no! That is to much effort for to little interest! If you are not famous, people are not going to search for you.

You have to make it easy for people to listen to your music!

Start giving people the DIRECT links!

There might be several people with your name so don't confuse potential fans!

What if your name was Big Boi but when they searched for you the famous Big Boi From Outkast came up?

Weezy F Baby, The F Is For Forgiveness!

Learn how to forgive in order to move on with your life and your career!

I honestly believe that when you hold unforgiveness in your heart that you clog your creative juices!

how are you supposed to be all that you can be in this industry when you can't forgive people?

There are just some things that you are going to have to accept and one of them is that people in the music industry can be dirty and malicious! Don't let others keep you angry and upset all of the time!

LEARN TO LET GO!

When you spend your time thinking of new lyrics and song ideas then you have less time to think about the people who have done you wrong and still owe you an apology, etc Do yourself a favor and move on...

#BeCreative

#BeInControl

#Forgive

but don't

#Forget

Just don't think about it unless you have to...

You See Right Through Me!

No, this is not the lyrics to Nicki Minaj's Song...it is for all those con
artists online that pretend to offer something of value online when in
reality they only exist to steal money from hard working individuals!
News Flash! I see right through you! How do I do that??? Easy...
I go to the bbb.org and look up you frauds and report you if you are not
on the up and up lol. I encourage all indie artists out there to
do your due diligence before spending money with anyone that
says that they can help boost your music career.

As yourself what I always ask myself before I spend my money:

Is the person asking me for money trying to get me to pay for something I can do for myself?

I understand the meaning of outsourcing and and saving time, but if you have nothing but time, why not do whatever they want you to pay for yourself and spend that money on something that you do not have the knowledge or expertise to do.

Also ask the person attempting to sale you a product or service how many people they have helped with this product or service. If they are just starting out, then it will be up to you to determine if this new product or service has the potential to be of value to you.

I want all of the indie artists out there to know that they need to spend money to make money, but they also need to spend their money wisely!

#BeSmart.

Go to www.bbb.org today!

Also, get yourself a good entettainment lawyer to handle all of your legal issues:

Check out this LINK to The Hollywood Reporter's Top 100 Entertainment Lawyers!

Remember, don't put your money on the line!

Do your research before you pay for products or services that might not be legitimate!

Don't Quit!

There are going to be times that you are going to want to quit and give up.
There are going to be times when people try to discourage you and make
you want to throw in the towel. There are going to be times when you
question everything you are working so hard to accomplish and that is when
you will have to sit back and ask yourself what has gotten you this far...the
opinions of others or your own hard work...The answer should be you. You
are the one that had enough faith to keep pushing to get you to your position now.
You might be thinking that you have not gotten far, but in reality...you have.

Maybe you are taking baby steps, but baby steps are still steps. Most of the time
the reason we give up is because we compare our careers with people that have
already made it and we think that we should be where they are. Never compare
because maybe you have not put in the amount of work that they have. Maybe they
possess a certain talent that someone was looking for at that time and maybe they will
be looking for yours next. Who knows! The only thing you need to worry about is not giving
up, because when your times comes you might not be there to get it if you have given up...

What's your "Rap" Exit Strategy?

Do you ever plan to retire from rap or singing? All good things must come to an end and sometimes that is by force. The people aka your fans determine who remains relevant although a major labor can influence their love for an artist...for the most part, they know when you have played out. Don't keep trying to revive a dead career at that point. An exit strategy does not necessarily mean leaving the industry all together, but you can always work behind the scenes and still maintain your respect. You can become a producer, writer or even teach course on the music industry at a high school or college level. You could simply travel and get booked to share your knowledge and live off of your name alone. There is also nothing wrong with switching careers altogether, that's why I urge you to attend college and get a degree unrelated to music in case you choose that route. Going back to school cam be fun to if you never attained a degree. The possibilities are endless! Just don't think that your rap or music career will last forever. Some careers last decades and some only last a few months. Just appreciate the time you do have in the limelight and use it to your advantage!
