Talking In The 3rd Person

This annoys me when artists that are NOT signed or famous speak on social networks in the 3rd person as if we don't know they are the ones writing their own posts since they are not famous enough to not have time to do it themselves. Unless you are writing a BIO talking in the 3rd person can be detrimental for your career...why? Because there is no sense of connection there for potential fans. People want to connect with you, not your "manager" or your "promo team" if you really have one. Stop letting people run your pages and learn to connect with you fans!

I had the pleasure of speaking to Zumbi Mambo and that is a blessing seeing that he is dead!

Yes, I said dead! 

Zumbi is a Haitian VooDoo Zombie, he freed himself from the bookur who enslaved him in 2010 and has been trying to make his way into the entertainment world ever since. I can see it being hard seeing that he is dead not many places will hire him so a job in the entertainment business is all he's really left to pursue... if people aren't going to just accept that he's just not alive anymore.

Don't judge him!

Producers Don't work For Free!

Some rappers want free beats cause they say their flow is nice. That's like a company saying you should work for them for free cause they're a nice company...producers spend hours making beats, don't disrespect them by trying to get freebies. 🎹 ‪#‎Pay4Beats‬

Making The Best Out Of Your Situation

Let me get right to it...

STOP COMPLAINING!

I hate to hear when people always have something negative to say about their situation...

I am not going to tell you to fix your life if you don't like it like everyone else because 

obviously that is not always possible. That is why I am telling you to STOP COMPLAINING

and learn to be content with what you have and who you have in your life for the time being.

I have noticed that most of the time we do have a way of fixing our problems but we simply

choose not to because we think that it will take to long to fix...for example...our finances. 

Say for instance we want to move to a nicer home. We figure it will take us a few months or

maybe even a few years to save up so we decide that will take to long and we stay where we are.

This is stupid. Why? Let me let you in on a little secret:

Regardless to if you stay in your current circumstance or if you decide to do something to change your situation...you will still be alive during the process...meaning:

Take our example about saving up to move. Hopefully you will still be alive in a few months to a year...so if you decide to save your money...you will be able to move out in a few months to a year. If you don't save your money you will still be there in a few months to a year and nothing will have changes...so why not start working towards a better life no matter how long it will take? By working towards a better tomorrow you will eventually have a better life. If you don't want to take the time to do it then you will never have a better life and you will always be in a position to complain. Please take my advice...PLAN and PURSUE! 

It may take a while but your music career is worth it...

Save up and invest in the proper equipment or studio to record in.

Your fans will thank you later...

Promote Your Song The Right Way!

How much money did you put into your last single?
Look at the chart below...

People are buying more singles than albums these days...

The trick is to NOT upload your full song on the free sites...why?

Because there are to many free sites that allows people to 

download your music for free...especially youtube. 

Let me give you an example...

I am a big fan of a particular indie artist...I just love his music...

One day I was watching an interview video with the artist and in the background I heard

a new song from him and I search all over but I could not find that song for free lol, so I had no choice but to buy the song on Itunes. I always tell artists DO NOT make your song available for download on soundcloud and similar sites. You work hard to create and record your songs so you deserve to be paid for your work,  

Ask yourself another question...

Is your music available in as many digital distribution channels possible? 

With that being said...get your music on a many sites as you can...but only upload snippets! 

Make them buy your work!

Back to my point...

You need to put in a descent amount of money in promo for every song you put out in order to give it a fighting chance. You are competing against hundreds of thousands of other aspiring artists wanting their songs to be the next hit. How do you do this?

Quality Recording

Music Video

Distribution Outlets

Paying to have your song in or before viral videos..

The possibilities are endless when it comes to promo...

Don't put out song after song with no views or hits...

Take time to build an audience for your music...

Stop Jumping Ahead Of Your Career!

You're an artist...you are supposed to make music right?

You are supposed to make music for people OTHER than yourself.

I bugs me when I see indie artists with 15 mixtapes and no fans.

What is the point of having a bunch of mixtapes when no one has heard the first one?

I think that indie artists should out one or two QUALITY mixtapes or a few songs, and focus on building a following so that there will be a demand for their music. Indie artists don't seem to want to take the time to build a buzz and I do not understand why that is. In order to get a record deal or gain some notoriety people of importance have to know who you are and they will only know who you are through a genuine buzz. 

I say GENUINE buzz because it is so easy to fake the funk these days, especially online.

Stop Jumping Ahead Of Your Career!

Put out new music when the time is right...after you have a descent amount of  hits and feedback.

Putting out music without hearing from fans with not enable you to grow as an artist.

Fans will give you the constructive criticism you need to propel you in the right direction musically. 

        1. How many hits did you get on your last mixtape?

        2. Has it reached it's full potential online? 

        3. Did you get a lot of feedback?

        4. Have you promoted it online and offline? 

   

       REMEMBER...

Don't buy views

Don't buy followers 

and 

Don't buy likes

Stay true to your craft and watch your career take off!
